screens - Friday the 31st (ScrollBoss) - 2014
Artwork by James Beaver

I'd gotten extremely hyped up by how the DangerTerrorHorrorThon title screen turned out and wanted to do something special for the last update in the marathon. Halloween just happened to fall on Friday the 31st and I planned to have a ton of Friday the 13th content (celebrating the 25th anniversary of the NES game) added to ScrollBoss on that day, along with a sprite of Michael Myers/The Shape. That was going to be the focus of the updates before the DangerTerrorHorrorThon idea got me hyped up enough to do more updates. I always loved that glass-breaking logo from the first movie, so I used the Halloween font to make a Friday the 31st logo, took that into Blender, read some quick tutorials about how to make glass and came up with this hurriedly-made screen. I set up a really simple movement animation to add a bit of motion blur so it'd look more like a snapshot from an animated intro instead of a render. I wanted to make the glass look more detailed to match the real movie's screen, but didn't have enough time. I have a bit of time before we get to see another Friday the 31st in October, so I might have a better version by then.
