Sprite work by James Beaver
I started working on Gilius' Golden Axe 1 fighting stance pose in November hoping he'd be ready for ScrollBoss' "The Revenge of 1989" theme month. It took a few more tries to get him right and some helpful suggestions by vnartist about the left arm led to the best improvements. There's a progress animation below with the last step being based on vnartist's critique. The 'magic' pose was a resize/trace/redraw sprite done for the ScrollBoss 10th Anniversary in 2010 and the basic pose was traced over a resized sprite from the old game. I made the Gilius sprite and an edit of Ax-Battler's magic pose to match an earlier Tyris magic pose sprite edit so all three heroes could stand in the front of a big sprite group picture I made for the July 19th update. I had to do it because the Golden Axe heroes were on the first ever ScrollBoss banner in 2001. |
