Guess who's got two thumbs and only needs to use one to let you know who's back? THAT GUY. This is the first full piece of line art of Nutroll I've drawn since I gave him a slightly new mask in 2025, not counting the drawn and scanned linework for his sprites and pixel art Vs. screen portrait. As fun as all of that was to make, getting back into drawing line art that's (mostly) meant to be line art feels different. Even if I re-ink this digitally in Clip Studio Paint, nothing feels more natural to me than setting up most of this by hand with pencil, paper, Micron markers, a Sharpie, and whiteout instead of doing major fixes digitally.
Weirdly enough, this is the first of two pictures I was working on of Nutroll, and I keep changing my mind about how the boots would look between both pictures. Inking this is where I decided he'd just have silvery, solid fasteners on his boots, because the second pic I'm drawing has regular buckles and one angle of them always closes up weirdly. I also gave him solid (at least on the outside) treads to make them look less like the I.C.I. guard boots. It'll cause me to lose some fun playing with perspective with the boot treads, but then I realized he could also leave footprints that look like an old-timey cartoon character. |
