There were quite a few picture that caused interest in Nutroll and this was one of the first. It's purposefully drawn so that you can't tell if the jacket arms are locked together or not. You can look at the mask and tell how his design was still in transition. Though not intentional, I'm pretty danged sure the visual inspiration is from David Bowie's 'Ashes to Ashes' video with a pretty similar scene. Years after drawing this, I caught the video on MTV2 back when the channel was worth a damn, saw the scene and KNEW that's where that was from. It became page two of the old Nutroll preview story that's now called 'Escapism' and a similar page will be in the remake I have planned for this 2007. |
