I was going to let this be another long-unseen pic, but I couldn't hold this one back. Blackfist here was created some time around 1989 and 1990. The old design was heavily based on Public Enemy's S1W crew and the Black Panthers where Blackfist usually had a red beret, black sunglasses, combat boots and pants with a partial urban camo pattern. What I did with this redesign was convert the idea to something closer to normal street clothing but still keep the spirit of the character obvious. Yeah, the name Blackfist isn't obvious enough.
Trying to figure out how color the chi/inborn power effect around his fist is what first stalled the coloring job. This is about as close as I could get to making a negative energy that still radiates. I'm sure that it'll see further tweaks in future pictures. |
