Rogue (early '90s outfit) flying

The picture of Rogue is now fully shaded and is not as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rockin’ chairs. She seems really okay with herself right now and I’m happy for her. Click that little pic over there to check out the gallery page.

I’m still getting ready to set up shop at the All-Americon 2012 convention on July 1st (the Facebook page for the event is here), but I don’t have a flyer yet. I’ll try to change that this weekend. Also, having to fix the sites after getting hacked also destroyed the time I’d have used to get a minibook together for the show, so I’ll just have prints to sell. Quite a few artists will be there along with tabletop gaming companies, toy sellers and more. The turnout keeps getting better every year, so don’t miss it this time. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll have enough sleep to do some decent sketches at this convention. Probably not, but I like to dream.

Rogue (early '90s outfit) flying

Still trying, still de-rustifying. Rogue was drawn days ago, but I redrew her face and added the X-patch yesterday. You can see that earlier version on the gallery page. Just click the pic to hit the page.

I’m currently trying to get this ring rust (or Cosmic Rust) out of my system, so I picked a special, pain-in-the-butt character to have done today. It’s janky as hell, but I think I’m getting my TF-drawing groove back.

“Birthdays are the right of all sentient beings.”

Thanks to everyone who sent birthday well wishes from various places, because you definitely made this day better. As Brawn would say, “Mushy, but true.” There’ll be more drawn art posted later this week, so stay tuned.

A sprite of Ryu and Ko, heroes from Capcom's Avengers game

Sorry for the long update drought, but things have been a bit hectic lately. I added the sprites from Capcom’s Avengers game (no relation to Marvel’s Avengers) to a gallery page, but I’m still trying to figure out how I’ll group the other sprites I made for that update. I’ll be back to posting drawn artwork soon.

I’ll be at the All-Americon convention this July 1st. Here’s the Facebook page with details:
All AmeriCon 2012
The delay in getting the next site started also forced a delay in this year’s party poster, but I’ll probably get it done just before the convention.

Sprites of giant charactersThe Wonderous Wasp from Marvel Comics in sprite form

Look, no one in this update is named Leon, but don’t let that mess up your day. The different sprites I made from the “Giant man” sprite base for the latest ScrollBoss update now has a gallery page with a surprise: Erik Josten in his villainous Goliath persona. The Wasp’s gallery page was updated with more outfits and some sprites of her in shrunken mode.

The Avengers update hit ScrollBoss on Thursday and has stuff like this in it:

Other Avengers-themed items were added to the site (especially the Graphic Generators) including a scratch-made background and a couple of villains. There will be another Avenger-y ScrollBoss update this Saturday.

The Wonderous Wasp from Marvel Comics in sprite form
This update is both a heads-up and preview to the Avengers ScrollBoss update that drops this Thursday. Remember when I posted the sprite of the Wasp and said that I’d be making more versions of it in different outfits? That starts now along with an improved version of the sprite itself. Check out the gallery page to see two of the outfits that will be in the big update. Miss Van Dyne will have a few more sprites by the time this week is over and she won’t be alone.

Guess what? Those aren’t even the biggest pieces of pixel art that you’ll see in that update. Tune in this Thursday evening to see all the new Avengers-related sprites and a new scratch-made background for the screenshot makers.

So the same thing that happened to ScrollBoss happened to this site, because something crept into the site and injected some malicious code. Same crap, same culprit website. I just cleared and scanned the site through multiple sources and reuploaded things from a clean backup. That means I’ll be doing even more site work instead of working on content, so I apologize again for the crappiest of updates.

Apparently something hacked the ScrollBoss site and started injecting some BS spam-related linking code into pages of the site. I shut off access to the site, changed passwords and gutted the entire spot (and that’s why the background patterns are currently missing). I have some security-related things to look into before uploading the entire site over again and making a fresh install of WordPress (I have back-ups of the posts, comments, etc.). I have no idea how long this is going to take. I have no idea how it got in, so I have no idea what security things to fix. That means I just have to look into a bunch of possible things before getting the site up and running again. Please take some time to run a virus scanner on your computer if you’ve been there recently. Nothing serious came up in any of my recent scans that I have scheduled for multiple times a week, but it’s better to be safe. I apologize any inconvenience this has caused anyone.

This is a giant pain in the butt that will slow down EVERYTHING that I’m working on right now. Luckily, none of the other sites (including this one) seem to be affected, so that will give me a bit of elbow room to get those places protected, too. A few things have been removed from the site, but all the content is intact.

Consider bookmarking or following the ScrollBoss Tumblr to see the “heads-up” alert when the site is ready again. I’ll post some things to make up for the fact that there isn’t a site right now. Sorry again for the inconvenience and thank you for your time.

BTW, just in case you didn’t see this in any of the other places where I post:

A sprites of characters from Capcom's Devil May Cry seriesScratch-made sprites of Tekken series characters
The scratch-made sprites of Heihachi Mishima (Tekken) and Trish (Devil May Cry and Marvel vs. Capcom 3) were added. Trish starts a Devil May Cry page (no promises on a Dante sprite) and Heihachi joins the Tekken page. Trish has a really short Work Progress animation (because I was just trying to get the danged thing finished), but Heihachi has a work prog animation with many more steps AND a version with electricity. Click on those small pics in the post to hit the gallery pages. ScrollBoss update

This update is dedicated to the memory of Steve Skinner, one of the best friends I’ve ever had and a talented, creative dude you’d have liked if you had the chance to meet him. The characters below were some of his favorites and the video game characters were the ones he’d kick everybody’s butt with. Yes, that’s the real reason why I made Tekken 2 versions of Heihachi and Yoshimitsu.

Sprites based on the Tiny Titans from DC Comics
I’m still burning the candle on both ends and three sides to work on the upcoming addition to the Illmosis network (currently fine-tuning the navigation and WordPress-ination), but I had to make this sprite this week. I’ll explain in a bit for those who don’t know why. Click on the small pic to hit the gallery page that also has a Work Progress animation with some of the steps I took to make the sprite.

The last issue of Tiny Titans came out this week (though I won’t be able to hit the comic shop to get it until next week) and I had to show my appreciation in some form. I’d have done a Tiny Titans sprite long before now if I thought my spriting skills were good enough to do the drawing style any justice, but the last issue forced my hand. The book always put a smile on my face and inadvertently had the least ridiculous version of Slade Wilson I’ve seen in the last ten years. Although comics are far better than they’ve been since the mid-90’s almost made me completely quit reading them, Tiny Titans was one of the main books I’d use to rinse the bad taste out of my brain that was left there by all the ham-fisted grimness that everyone tells me I’m supposed to like. To Art Baltazar, Franco and everyone else involved, thanks for the Aw Yeah Fun-Times!

BTW: The page says just says “Tiny Titans” for now because I plan to make more TT sprites.
