Sorry for the lack of an update last week but the things that popped up was part of the reason that I had to stop drop the weekly guarantee. I felt just good enough to struggle through this picture of Storm in her Jim Lee-designed outfit and not completely mess it up. It needed two digital fixes (shifting her mouth a few pixels and finishing the very top of her hair because I ran out of paper) but I’m not completely mad at it.

For all I know, I’ll end up redrawing it so there’s no point in giving it a gallery page just yet. I was going to finish coloring that picture of Skate from Streets of Rage but my mouse is acting up a bit. I’m going to wait until I can get a really good replacement mouse before I get to coloring anything.

Things I’ve been working on include:
1.) Giant, pain-in-the-butt re-write of a ScrollBoss section called the S-Files. I’ve spent the last two weeks working on the new code and character info for it along with making room for future features.
2.) Illmosis Scrapbook #1 ashcan book. Seriously, sincerely and fo’rilla. Sketches, story previews and art. I’m trying to get it done in time for the next All Americon convention on May 15th. Check out that link for details
3.) 2011 Party Flyer. I may have that done in March but I’ll probably have to censor a part of the version I post on the site since it reveals the name of the “When the War Begins Again” project.
4.) Last few necessary design revisions for that “War Begins Again” before I can start on the introduction and hopefully post it in April.
5.) More commissions once I get my momentum back.

Eddie 'Skate' Hunter from Streets of Rage dashes forwardAlmighty Grandmaster Wizard displays his Microphone Technique
A commission for a friend, extra day job work and some fatigue slowed things down a bit for the site but both Skate and Almighty Grandmaster Wizard are now in base color mode. Most of Skate’s linework has been cleaned so a full color version will happen soon. The AGW pic will be redrawn once I get all of his design 100% in place. I’ll probably add stripes on the side of the jumpsuit and other things like that.

Eddie 'Skate' Hunter from Streets of Rage dashes forward
Scratch-made recreation of the official artwork for Konami's Castlevania.
I updated yesterday but I’m making an all-new post since most people were too busy watching Sunday’s Ultra Feetsball Finale telecast and the commercials nestled within. Eddie “Skate” Hunter from Sega’s Streets of Rage series and a pixel art recreation of the Castlevania NES box art. The Castlevania pic was done for a new screen layout for the GroupShot image generator on ScrollBoss and you’ll find an animation that shows some progress steps as I made it.

I finally fixed the ScrollBoss gallery so all the pictures show up now. It includes characters from the kinds of action/adventure games I talk about on the site as well as the goofy pictures that I made just for features on the site.

Scratch-made recreation of the official artwork for Konami's Castlevania.
The Castlevania background that I posted a preview of last week is now on the site. There’s an animated .GIF showing some of the steps I took in making it.

I planned to have this picture of Skate from Sega’s Streets of Rage games inked for today’s update but something came up. I’m posting a link to the pencils so you can see what to expect. I’ll post the inked version on a gallery page once it’s finished instead of waiting until the next weekend update. Besides, everyone is watching the Super Bowl so who cares about this update? Yeah.

Currently having some problems with a program I use to test PHP and MySQL on the hard drive version of my sites. It turns out to be a big part of why I had such connection problems lately because it doesn’t get bad until I turn the PHP/Apache part on. I’m still working on this problem along with a big system update for the GfxGenerators on ScrollBoss. I’m going to show you part of a background I made from scratch for that update:

An uncovered version of that background will be in the first update after it debuts on ScrollBoss. The program problems have slowed work down to a crawl but I’m hoping to get it ready for this week or weekend.

I’ll try to make up for the lameness of this non-update later.

Modern Star Sapphire Carol Ferris in flight. Update 1:

The bad weather here seems to be messing with my net connection so I’m posting this while I can. I may do more with the background later.

Modern Star Sapphire Carol Ferris in flight. Update 2:

One of the things I wanted to add to the pic didn’t work but I did add a few more effects to make the picture look a bit less boring. I think that’s done enough for now.

Modern Star Sapphire Carol Ferris in flight.
Star Sapphire appears in full color and with a new pair of legs. Expect a better special effects when I get a background together for her. Thanks to sinus problems or something that feels like them, I feel like Arn Anderson hit me in the back of the head with a tire iron so I’m shocked that I managed to get even this tiny bit of work done.

The character profiles now show small versions of pics in the mini-galleries instead of thumbnail clips and close-ups. I’m trying to get the profile structure ready for some big changes that you’ll see later this year but I figured I’d get the small steps out of the way first.

Maceo being as cool as only Maceo can be.

Just a small update here. I was digitally cleaning up the line work so I decided to try a few color schemes for him and post them. People seem to like him more than I expected so I’m glad that he shows up early in the comic he’ll appear in.

Maceo being as cool as only Maceo can be.Petey Panels in morning mission mode. Santessa brought presents
Happy New Year! Santessa’s 2010 pic is added to the gallery along with two new character designs: Petey Panels and Maceo. You may recognize Petey’s shape from a preview post back in October but his final design is ready now and was the last picture I drew in 2010. Maceo happens to be the picture I was drawing at midnight on January 1st and is from the same project that Petey is in. More about that and other comics next time.
