It’s time for another villain of mine to show up in an updated design. This one is Seismo, one of the sneakiest bad guys you’ll see in my comic universe. He’s an example of a C-grade villain with more smarts than most people will ever suspect.
This is the only picture in the update but it’s not the only thing I worked on last week. Besides the commissioned pixel work I did that went right into paying for the website hosting fees, I drew something for the Christmas update. Yes, it’s Santessa, the Christmas mascot. She’ll look a bit different this year and I’m only showing you a little bit of the picture before the next update:
Expect to find Santessa’s whole picture some time this Christmas weekend!

This week’s character debut isn’t just a villain as much as he’s THE villain. The Inquisitor looks like some crazy villain from yesteryear because that’s what he’s supposed to look like. The problem is that he wasn’t as crazy as he appears and will have a major influence on current stories and characters. The pictures of Beatdown and the so-called Ghostman from last week now have gallery pages. I’m doing these pictures again so I can have basic pics of them for the Illmosis Scrapbook that I had to push back to next year along with the character profiles for this site. I won’t be posting every picture from the Scrapbook because I want there to be a few surprises for the people who buy it.

Hello. My brain power has been reduced to that of a voodoo-flavor zombie due to a sudden and abrupt shift in day job work schedule. My cunning plan to start the month with lots of black-and-white artwork of my characters was ruined by being too sleepy to draw straight. Sadly, that means I only have two characters to show. That mystery man is the Ghostman, a character who will be called many things but most urban legends will revolve around the name of the Ghostman. There’s a more common name he’ll be called that is too spoilerish to say at this time. The woman is Beatdown, a character I’ve redesigned a tiny bit but her head and shoulders can still be spotted in the background of that 1996 Entity picture from way back when. In fact, you can find Ghostman’s really old design if you look hard enough. Neither of these pictures have a gallery page yet because I’m still feeling worn out.
Another thing I finished last week was a scratch-made sprite for A.Schell. It’s for an old ad mascot that you may recognize if you like older comic books. Check out the sprite at it’s deviantART gallery page and be sure to browse his gallery of fun-time awesome material including his artwork of the same ad character.

Here’s today’s crossover update with ScrollBoss. I have the Thing sprite that I previewed last week and it includes an work steps animation that shows the sprite being worked on. I also have a quick pic of Bomberman that I penciled at the Black Friday event in All-American Comic’s Warren, Ohio store.
Check out these links to other artists who were at the convention:
AJ Sabino (draws some wicked Transformers, Iron Man and TMNT)
Chris Kasmar (also great TMNT but I can’t remember if it’s on dA yet.)
Jay Fife also on deviantART (all-around amazing and draws some mighty fine lady folk)
Don’t forget to check out ScrollBoss to see the huge update to the GFX Generator including the new Mego toy-package theme in the GroupShot generator!

It’s nice to finally have a non-crappy picture of Star Sapphire on the site. I’m unsure when I’ll be able to fully color this but it should be before the end of the year.
I’ve been getting commission projects from people that I already know and that’s been helping me to hammer out my commission prices. I’ll post a price list once the list and I are ready. These will be digital commissions and include scratch-made sprites and pixel art. I’m working on one line art project and I have another sprite after that so it may be a while before I’m completely freed up.
All-American Comics in Warren, Ohio is having a Black Friday sale and happening with local artists and I’ll be there with some of my crappy scribbles. Here’s the Google Maps page. Stop by if you can to buy some comics at great prices and meet some artists and the chump that made this website. It’s going to be more fun than playing full-contact Black Friday with crazed, overly-entitled shoppers to fight over deals that are only a tiny bit better than what you’ll see later in the season.
Next weekend will feature another joint update between this site and my ScrollBoss gaming site and there will be a bit of pixel art involved. I’m not promising a big update but it will make up for the intentional lack of comic-related stuff in the ScrollBoss anniversary updates. I’ve been working on that along with newness for the Graphic Generators. Here’s a preview of a scratch-made sprite that I made last week that will be part of the double-update.

I spent most of last week working on two different commissions and getting a few things ready for the joint Illmosis/ScrollBoss update on Thanksgiving weekend and feeling like I’d been run over by a freight train due to sinus issues. I tried to work on a character design yesterday even though I spent most of the day squinting my dominant eye. The results are too uneven (literally, thanks to crappy depth perception) to show the whole thing so I’ll just show you the head and shoulders:

I can also show you a commission sprite that I did last week. It was a sprite of the villain named the Court, another character for Project:What?. It was a fun sprite to make and I can’t wait to see what kinds of stories these characters get into.
I’m going to take it easy for most of today so I can get some rest and get well and be productive enough to have an actual update next week.

Extra hours on the dayjob and working on a commission (that you may see next week) meant less time to work on the scribbles. I finally turned the pic of Arthur (from the Ghosts ‘n Goblins series) into pixel art and fixed a lot of the mistakes I made with the helmet. I also made a quick, simple background for Radd “Bionic Commando” Spencer. There probably won’t be much of an update next week thanks to more potential commission work.

This week’s update is shared with my ScrollBoss gaming site with new stuff being added there Friday along with today. All of the updates share two things in common: Horror (for Halloween) and early NES games. The Castlevania 1 version of Medusa follows Death into the gallery and Death himself returns in a scratch-made sprite. Mario returns with an improved sprite that fits in better with other Capcom-style fighting game sprites.
The new sprites in the update here are also part of this weekend’s update of the Fake Screenshot generators on ScrollBoss.

The 25th Anniversary of the Nintendo Entertainment System caught me by surprise so I felt I had to celebrate somehow. The picture of Mario here is a slightly improved version of the picture I drew on the evening of the anniversary but didn’t like. The original version was NOT good enough to show that night. The other picture isn’t just any ol’ Grim Reaper… it’s Death from the Castlevania games and in his NES-style outfit and pose. That’s the picture I’m happy with this week. I tried to draw other pictures but everything was turning out like doo-doo on a stick. One of those pictures was of Petey Panels, another character from the “When the War Begins Again” project. I’m sure you can figure out what he is from his shape and his name so I’ll just like the silhouette be a placeholder until I make a better picture of him.
Death won’t be the only Castlevania boss hitting Illmosis this month. Here’s a preview of what you’ll see next week during the joint Illmosis/ScrollBoss weekend update:

Yes, there was
a ghost monster involved in last week’s update but the main attraction of this week’s newness is really getting into the Halloween state of mind. It’s the Bubble Head Nurse from Silent Hill 2, a game I’ve never even played. Yes, I’ve drawn something from a game that isn’t over ten years old.
Another bit of newness is the Ms. Pac-Man wallpaper:

It’s a .ZIP file with 1024×768, 1280×1024 & 1440×900 versions of the wallpaper.
I also made another commissioned sprite from scratch. It’s for the upcoming “Project: What?” and I had fun making it. Click here to check it out on the project’s deviantART page and be sure to check out the other awesometacious concept work for the story!
There won’t be a ScrollBoss update this week due to work-related things. There’ll be an update next week with a few horror-game bits in time for Halloween.
