A sprites of characters from Capcom's Devil May Cry seriesScratch-made sprites of Tekken series characters
The scratch-made sprites of Heihachi Mishima (Tekken) and Trish (Devil May Cry and Marvel vs. Capcom 3) were added. Trish starts a Devil May Cry page (no promises on a Dante sprite) and Heihachi joins the Tekken page. Trish has a really short Work Progress animation (because I was just trying to get the danged thing finished), but Heihachi has a work prog animation with many more steps AND a version with electricity. Click on those small pics in the post to hit the gallery pages. ScrollBoss update

This update is dedicated to the memory of Steve Skinner, one of the best friends I’ve ever had and a talented, creative dude you’d have liked if you had the chance to meet him. The characters below were some of his favorites and the video game characters were the ones he’d kick everybody’s butt with. Yes, that’s the real reason why I made Tekken 2 versions of Heihachi and Yoshimitsu.

Sprites based on the Tiny Titans from DC Comics
I’m still burning the candle on both ends and three sides to work on the upcoming addition to the Illmosis network (currently fine-tuning the navigation and WordPress-ination), but I had to make this sprite this week. I’ll explain in a bit for those who don’t know why. Click on the small pic to hit the gallery page that also has a Work Progress animation with some of the steps I took to make the sprite.

The last issue of Tiny Titans came out this week (though I won’t be able to hit the comic shop to get it until next week) and I had to show my appreciation in some form. I’d have done a Tiny Titans sprite long before now if I thought my spriting skills were good enough to do the drawing style any justice, but the last issue forced my hand. The book always put a smile on my face and inadvertently had the least ridiculous version of Slade Wilson I’ve seen in the last ten years. Although comics are far better than they’ve been since the mid-90’s almost made me completely quit reading them, Tiny Titans was one of the main books I’d use to rinse the bad taste out of my brain that was left there by all the ham-fisted grimness that everyone tells me I’m supposed to like. To Art Baltazar, Franco and everyone else involved, thanks for the Aw Yeah Fun-Times!

BTW: The page says just says “Tiny Titans” for now because I plan to make more TT sprites.

The Tekken sprites from this week’s ScrollBoss update get a gallery page and I updated the Growl sprite page with the re-sized Doll sprites and the extra Genesis/Mega Drive palettes.

Sprites of characters from Growl

The female enemies from Taito’s Growl (known as “Runark” in Japan) finally got a gallery page. These were late additions to last week’s ScrollBoss update. This update doesn’t have much in it because I worked on a lot of things I can’t show you right away. Here are some annoying teasers for them:

You’ll see those sprites in the next Illmosis and ScrollBoss updates. Those next two things, well, you’ll see that right before The War Begins Again in a few months. The last thing is a new teaser of something I posted a teaser of in the middle of last year. It’s one of those off-and-on projects I work on a bit at a time and I’m pretty close to having a version of it done. So, yeah, just because I posted a teaser for something nearly a year ago doesn’t mean that I’ve forgotten about it.

Sprites of characters from Guardians of the 'Hood

Today’s update is a new scratch-made sprite of Tanya, a playable character from Atari Games’ heavily-mocked arcade beat-em-up, “Guardians of the ‘Hood.” Click the small picture to see the sprite’s gallery page and check out the reference pic to see how she looks compared to her original, digitized counterpart. She’ll be in this week’s ScrollBoss update that has Tanya and Link (from last week’s update here) joining the Screenshot Generators along with a new background feature.

Beatdown is ready to run.Sprite of Link from Legend of Zelda series of games by Nintendo
Beatdown is finally in full color and I really like how she turned out. I’ve been tweaking her backstory for a while and working on stories where she appears (including one in which you won’t recognize her at first), so it’s good to finally have a full-color picture of her. The other new thing in this update is a sprite of Link from the Legend of Zelda. That’s right, the original. The 26th anniversary of the game was a few days ago and I felt the need to celebrate that. An early version of this was posted on the ScrollBoss site on Wednesday, but this picture has a later version of it. Click on the small pictures in this post to see the gallery pages for them. The regular version of this sprite and the mini-logo will be in next week’s ScrollBoss update along with some Graphic Generator upgrades and new backgrounds.

Beatdown is ready to run.
The title almost says it all, but not quite. I still wasn’t happy with how she looked, so I digitally retraced the lines instead of my usually smudge/contrast line cleaning method. It’s a method that I’m still trying to get a handle on, but I like how it turned out here.

Scratch-made sprites of the Ghost Monsters from Pac-Man

I just updated ScrollBoss with some Pac-related sprites, but I’m a bit worn out and only have a page ready for Ghost Monsters here. There’s a brand new sprite of Sue and a standard Ghost Monster sprite that has been palette swapped for all the original monsters. I’ll have pages for the other sprites ready next week.

Scratch-made sprites of Aaron Pinsky's Sheol characters.

The next in the series of sprites for Aaron Pinsky’s “Sheol” is here! The new sprite is Fredrick Steinwald, a man who gets into the tournament to do more than just kick in some heads. Click the preview pic over there to see the full Sheol sprite page and learn about the character. This was my favorite design so far because, hey, it’s a ninja. You know how I am.

I’m splitting work between the next website (currently putting the finishing touches on the layouts and WP theme), this site and ScrollBoss, so updates for both existing sites will be a bit slow and low sometimes. My first fan-art sprite of 2012 at about 97% right now and will be ready in time for both the next Illmosis and ScrollBoss updates next week.

(edit 2012 Jan 24) – The Ms. Pac-Man gallery page was fixed by adding the link to the wallpapers. Yes, I feel stupid about messing that up. Click the picture below to download the pack with 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024 & 1440 x 900 wallpapers.

Why did I just happen to notice this? Tune in next week to find out.
