Again, I’m working on a lot of stuff at the same time so all I have is this pic of Douglas Bild from Brawl Brothers/Rushing Beat Ran. I tried to do the blue line pencil-to-dark pencil thing here but I may just traditionally ink-trace it anyway. The proportions are a bit off but I could probably fix that a bit.
I made big progress on some ScrollBoss items that I won’t be able to unleash for a few months. Two of these things will be added to this site later since they’re from scratch. One has basic sprite poses traced to match the old version, I still changed most of it to make it fit Street Fighter Alpha style. Here are some early shots of them.

If you’re a gaming fan with a good eye, you’ll notice they’re from the same game. I also redesigned the last character I needed for the group shot in the “Universal Intro” story. She’s only flying in the background but she becomes important much later on. Okay, I’ve gotta roll and test out more of these sprites then work on the next ScrollBoss update.

Due to what will be a busy, miserable weekend, I’m updating before it starts. Treat is in full and creepy color now.
The ScrollBoss site just got a WP blog put into it for handling site updates posts, previews and such. You’ll see something like that added here once I fine-tune the ScrollBoss version.

This was a very light week but many of the weeks will be on the light tip since I’m also working on multiple projects like “the Universal Intro” for the comics. Tempress makes her debut on the site in her new outfit. I planned to draw her during the Illmosis 5th Anniversary last November but those early attempts looked crappier than this. Besides being my second character ever, she’s also the second pic I drew this year. What was the first? More on that later. Also up this week is another variation of the TMNT sprites I made last month. This set is modelled after the original Playmates Toys action figures from 1988 right down to the mouth expressions on the faces. The blacked-out character in the last pic was the first pic of 2010 and it part of something that I’ve been scheming on for years. In fact, he isn’t the first teaser I’ve thrown out for the project. More on this later though you may be able to figure out part of what’s going on if you know where to look.

Negater is now in full, mean color. Meanwhile, I’m working on some big site changes for ScrollBoss and MugenBoss so I have to cut this short. See you next update!

No, I couldn’t resist the bad pun and I don’t care. The Wonder Woman pic is full color now and looks consistent with the GL and J’onn J’onnz pics I did last year. After all that work on ScrollBoss (including a surprise mini-update this Wednesday), it was nice to get back to coloring artwork. I spent most of my vacation working on ScrollBoss, New Year’s Eve working on the Universal Intro story and New Year’s Day working on the Wonder Woman pic. I’m updating the site at 5 AM Saturday instead of Sunday so I can have some time to chill out this weekend. I’ll probably work on something anyway, but I can be laid back about it.

Today was the last big ScrollBoss: the Revenge of 1989 updates and I’ve added the scratch-made sprites to this site. The TMNT are also celebrating their 25th Anniversary along with the 20th Anniversary for their 1st NES and Arcade games so it’s extra special for them. Be sure to check out the ‘progress animations’ on Gilius and Death Adder to see many of the steps I went through to make them.

Have a Merry Christmas or whatever it is that you celebrate! Enjoy family, friends, loved ones, food, new holiday memories, themed television programming with crappy marathons and delicious food. If you don’t celebrate anything, have fun anyway! I don’t even mean that sarcastically because I’m not here to judge you. Try to return the favor and not get hissy about how I drew Santessa, my long-lost Christmas mascot, in the ‘cheezycake style’ that I barely use now.
I’ll be back this Sunday with a bunch of sprites!

Wonder Woman returns in base color with an improved face. I’m not sure when I’ll have the chance but I plan to get this in full color very soon. The other new thing is a picture from 1998 with Ace of Clubs, Phenomenon and Batterram beating up some villains. Now that I’m finally better at drawing pictures of people just standing there so I plan to slowly get back to drawing action like this 1998 pic, but better.
ScrollBoss is currently celebrating the 20th Anniversary of 1989 and the next update will be mostly pixel-related. Yes, sprites. There will be at least one new from-scratch sprite hitting the site in that update and will be here the following Sunday. He happened to play Santa here last year and I may even kick out a Santafied version of the sprite if I have the time.

Still working like crazy on ScrollBoss’ “1989” feature but I made some quick art of a character from that great year of gaming, Alex Kidd. Sure, he debuted before that, but his Enchanted Castle game from 1989 is a favorite of mine and this is based on how he is in that game. If you want to get a hint at another pic I’ll be drawing soon, look at the sketch link on the Alex Kidd page. No new character profiles this week but I brought you something almost as good. If you’ve ever heard me talk about a sketch page where I drew the Ice Cream Man making a bunch of weird faces with ridiculous quotes under each one, I finally found, scanned and uploaded it. It’s hard to believe that pic is 15 years old!

Yes, I finally finished coloring a Baroness picture for the first time since that 2002 test portrait for the aborted M.U.G.E.N. character that wasn’t finished but manages to get linked to a lot. Not only is the regular version finished but so is a version based on her appearance in the Crimson Strike Team convention set.
