I think we’ve all had enough of this teaser crap. Let’s go.

The War Begins Again in this link.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, waitaminute, what about the other place?”

Don’t worry, Story Mode will eventually get to that.

Martian Manhunter flying stoically as he's known to do.Various villains from Marvel Comics in sprite form

I still have ton of ScrollBoss pixel art that needs to be added here, but a huge chunk of it just landed. Sprites of Bizarro, Braniac, Zod, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn are on the new DC villains gallery page with work progress gifs of Bizarro, Harley, and Ivy. The Marvel villain page has been updated with the Super-Skrull sprite, his work progress sprite and a few alternate power sets that haven’t hit ScrollBoss just yet.

Meanwhile, have some previews from a project people probably think I forgot about. One of these has been visible on the early version of the site, but only if you know where and when to look.

edit (7:26 PM)

It’s the 75th Anniversary of Superman’s creation by Joe Shuster and Jerry Seigel, so I took another shot at this pose I’d tried to draw before. It’s mostly based on a Christopher Reeve (R.I.P) pose from the first movie. All of the earlier attempts looked like crap, but this looks less crappy.

I may as well ink it while I’m at it:

“Wait, the penciled version doesn’t have a cape in the back?”

Because I needed a version with no cape so I can ani – – wait, you aren’t supposed to know about that yet Hey, pretend I didn’t say that last part. Go back to playing Injustice or whatever.

(edit: 2:08 AM)
Hey, it’s Lois Lane’s 75th anniversary of existence, too!

The serial killer known only as Guffaw.
Sega's Quartet in scratch-made sprite form.

Because, honestly, the biggest April Fool’s prank I could pull would be to have a real update. Playing catch-up from February, Edgar, from Sega’s game Quartet, is finally added to the galleries here. The line art is of Guffaw, a villain from, well, that project I keep annoying you about. There’s a horror-based corner to the world this project takes place in and he’s just one of the many monsters and sick freaks you’ll find there.

ScrollBoss has been much more busy lately and I’ll be setting up gallery pages for those sprites, mainly the G.I.JOE and Cobra sprites, very soon. I just had to bulk the GFX Generators a bit because I have to get back to work on both the new site and getting this one active again.

Tabletop gaming and RPG fans in Ohio and Pennsylvania should consider checking out the NCG Penn-Ohio Spring Fling Game Expo on Saturday, April 13th. You’ll also find a lot of great artists there setting up tables, so go if you want to get some excellent art prints. As a side note, I’ll be there, peddling my low-rent scribbles for Lego and Peanut Butter M&M money, but don’t let that stop you from being there!

Scratch-made sprites of Aaron Pinsky's Sheol characters.Wonder Momo
A new sprite commissioned by Mr. Aaron Pinsky based on his Sheol stories was added to that gallery page along with his bio for the character, a wrestler who’s ready to rule any squared circle (or circled circle) he steps in. I also have the sprites based on Namco’s “Wonder Momo” (regular Momo and costumed Wonder Momo) on a page along with another quickly made background pattern for them to smile in front of and a work progress sprite.

Those coloring & activity books I drew art for last year are finally in stores! My artwork isn’t on the cover…

… but it’s on the inside…

From what I’ve been told, the books are in Dollar Tree and Five Below stores now, so be sure to pick those up for yourself or loved ones along with the other Landoll coloring books, including a really cool Robots-themed book.

Various Double Dragon enemies in scratch-made sprite form. Radd 'Bionic Commando' Spencer in fighting scale pixel art form Scratch-made sprites of characters from Dig-Dug
More sprites were added, including the new Linda and Abobo (Double Dragon II) sprites from last week’s ScrollBoss update. I added Dig Dug and Fygar (and the sketch I traced to get the sprite started) to the Dig Dug gallery page while the Bionic Commando/Radd Spencer page gets standing sprites for both the NES and arcade versions (along with a simple background).

Work continues on the new site. I posted previews on Tumblr that you can find here and here. A few more people know about the site and seem to like the early version of a new site feature that will debut there first. Don’t worry, these teasers will be over with soon (finally).

The first three rules to The War Begins Again.
Various Double Dragon enemies in scratch-made sprite form.
First up, Abobo sprites were added to the Double Dragon enemies sprite page along with a work progress sprite. I also added a Lopar/Roper sprite that is closer to what his size should’ve been. The other thing I’ve added is a poster-like graphic for “The War Begins Again” project.

I’ve mostly been working on that new site again and you’ll finally see it up and running soon. Those of you who have the 2012 Illmosis flyer already have the URL where that site can be found. If you type it in now, you can see a new preview of the site that I uploaded a few days ago. None of the comics are up yet, but you can see a site feature preview in the sidemenu. That weird new thing will be a bit boring if you look at it in the afternoon, but you might see something a bit more interesting at around 11 PM EST until 1 AM EST. More will be continually added until the site officially debuts early this year. Site updates here will be kinda small for a while. I’ll be showing previews on the Illmosis Tumblr and the early birds to the site will be able to see the full, early version of this graphic. This site will still be updated, mostly with sprite additions from those earlier ScrollBoss updates, but there’ll be other things, too. I’ll also get that “I’m selling prints” thing started up soon, too and anyone who buys prints will get that 2012 flyer with the “secret” URL.

Sprites based on characters from the Raven's Dojo series

The Raven’s Dojo Kickstarter still needs help! I even made sprites of the strip’s stars, Rodney and Dornail, to help get the word out. Okay, I’ve wanted to make sprites of these two for a long while now, but this seemed like the right time to do it. If you want to know how serious I am, click the small version of the picture and see the animated hypnotic background effect I made for the full version. The Kickstarter’s deadline is 2:44 AM Tuesday night, Wednesday morning, Eastern Standard Time, so please consider helping the Dojo crew get the TPB release they deserve!

Sprites based on... eh, things from Space InvadersSprites of character from the BurgerTime seriesSega's Flashgal in scratch-made sprite form.

Sorry, no goofy title for this update. Sprites of the Space Invader (from the old cabinet art) and Flashgal, possibly Sega’s most obscure heroine, now have gallery pages. The Invader and Flashgal have work progress animations to show bits of my working on them. The Flashgal sprites are the improved versions I uploaded in yesterday’s ScrollBoss update.

I’m a turdstain for being too distracted to push this before now, but the ever-awesome Raven Perez has a Kickstarter up to get a trade paperback made of his Raven’s Dojo series. He’s only got a few days left, but he’s over halfway there. Please kick in whatever dollars, zeni, rupees or ducats you can spare to help him get this project off the ground and melting brains:

Can you kick it? Yes, you caaan!

Get equipped with mouse-over clues!

Finally, I’m working on multiple things right now, including a small 1987 game tribute for ScrollBoss. This should shed some light one one of the character’s you’ll see in that update.

A cutie-style turkey heroine Thanksgiving mascot.
I drew a quick pic of the Golden Gobblette, my Thanksgiving mascot, and put a hastily-written version of her origin in the text section. I changed her design again and this is the version that I’ll probably stick with for now own. I say that a lot, so we’ll see how that works out next year, right? Right.

Fans of truly classic games (I’m talking 1985 and earlier) and/or pixel art need to check out ScrollBoss on Saturday because there’s a big update on the way. You’ll see obvious favorites, old friends and fiends you haven’t thought of in a while and the obligatory obscure characters that only a few of you will know. Remember that “Hall of Armors” and Castlevania backgrounds I made from scratch? I have a new background for that update, too. Of course, all of it will be in the GFX Generators with alternate palettes and all that fun stuff.
